Correct, the pedestal needs to be machined and retapped for the stud. The FRPP catalog has the appropriate information that your machinist will need. IMHO, its a worthwhile upgrade. Stud mount rockers certainly are easier to adjust and maintain proper valvetrain geometry, especially if you're changing cams, milling heades, or anything else that affects the overall geometry.
