Have you thought about the recurved distributor? Personally speaking, I have made that mistake on my MSD distributor. Had to much timing, after i first installed it. Time slowed up big time. Scratching my head, my buddy forced me to retard my timing, cause that was the only thing i changed. Times went back to what it should of been, it was over a .7 sec difference in 1/8 mile if i remember correctly, maybe more. Sounds like too much timing to me.
