Whats up modular folks. I have been debating the idea of buying a 99-02 stang vert for a daily driver. I have a couple of questions. Are there any reliability issues with them, ex. tranny, head gaskets, ECU...? How strong do the vert aod's run? I really want something newer to drive, so I can give new life to my 90gt as a track only car. Any suggestions on a year that may be better than another or just what to look out for when looking at them would be greatly appreciated. I have put all of my efforts so far into the 90gt, and I know nothing about the modular engine. Thanks in advance for your help.

I love my 02 GT vert, but I have to admit I'm disappointed in the build quality. My 95 GT is put together much better. I've had a transmission replaced and still have problems in cold weather (which sucks because I live in Canada).That being said, the car is very nice, the 4.6L pulls all the way to red line and delivers very smooth power. The convertible top works like a dream and has vurtually no leaks. After working on my 5.0L the 4.6L engine bay look scary .All in all they are nice cars, and worth the money, but don't get rid of your 5.0! ![]() |

The bottom end in my '00 GT blew up with 45K on it and no power adder, but I think it may have been due to poor oil management with the stock pan and high-G cornering and braking (I've got 13" brakes and suspension to the hilt). That said, I still love the car but I wish I knew for sure what killed the motor. It was never overheated, over-revved, or run low on oil.
If I were considering buying a new Mustang now, I would wait for the '05; it should be a much more solid platform to build on than the current car.

I,m running a 98 GT vert auto that is a rebuild ( body only )and is now boosted. Have had no tranny or vert problems. I love it, I give it a good workout on weekends and can't say much bad about it.
