Re: Dropin the Tranny
You'll wish you'd taken the exhaust out. IMO, it is impossible to do without removing the exhaust. But you know what they say, "Anything's possible if you got a big enough hammer."

Re: Dropin the Tranny
With a wrench....LOL
Maybe I'm not understanding the question, but a Mustang driveshaft has four bolts, like most rear wheel drive cars, at the rear u-joint. After you chock the car, so it doesn't roll, you unbolt the four bolts, bump the driveshaft forward a little to let it clear the differential, drop it down and pull it out of the rear of the transmission. Happy New Year !!!

Re: Dropin the Tranny
You have to use a boxed-end wrench or a 12pt socket. I'm pretty sure it is a 1/2". And be prepared for the little bit of transmission fluid that will come out of the transmission when you remove the driveshaft.

You might need to use a little heat and a hammer to bust them loose.

Re: Dropin the Tranny
12mm closed end wrench, and a 3lb sledge, and plenty of swinging room I just pulled mine off this weekend and for some reason the impact wasn't budging them (it usually does) so I pulled out the mini-sledge and after about 10 good knocks, they came loose.

Re: Dropin the Tranny
Put the transmission is 4th gear. Hook a 12mm boxed end wrench on the bolt head. Then hook the boxed end of a 9/16 (or whatever size works) wrench on the open end of the 12mm.
