				 | How to identify a motor? I realize this will make me sound like a real novice that's in over his head, but that would be a pretty good description. I just bought a '65 Ford Fairlane 500 in rough shape to restore for $800. Supposedly, the motor is 302 out of a '69 Mustang. How can I confirm this? Where do I look for VIN numbers or whatever? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

				 | There are some numbers at the back of the block near the starter. You will probably need to pull the starter to read the numbers.

				 | On my 68 mustang I had to remove the starter to see the numbers. The numbers on my block are (D4DE-6015-BA). I'm told the D4 stands for 1974, If it was C8 it would be a 1968. |
