Well, I don't have a 351, but I do have a high sitting intake on my 347. I have a 3" cowl and just have enough room for it to clear. I have never heard of drop mounts but that doesn't mean they don't exist. If you do drop your motor, you'll have to worry about your oil pan hitting things. Also, about the fiberglass... I have a fiberglass hood and I have never had any problems. You get what you pay for. I would stick with Cervinis or Harwood for an aftermarket hood. They have the best fit and best quality out there. Also, when you get it painted, if they put crappy paint on there, the heat will make it bubble up, so watch out for that.
