as for the hatch take off the rear panels and you should be able to untighten the latch plate thing and it sounds like you need to lower it. Just mess around with it and you should be able to get it perfect. As for the 1st gear bucking when in 1st gear without gas, i'd say just about every car does that, all manual transmission cars i've ever had have done that, i am of course assuming you have a 5 speed.
