On the factory glue, all I can say is grab a bucket of hot water, soap, and a sponge. Rub. Rub long time. Then wash your car, go ahead and do the whole thing, it needs it. Before you apply the decals/emblems, MY suggestion would be to clean that specific area with alcohol (isopropyl, not the tasty kind, though in a pinch you could probably use some high proof clean stuff like good vodka.....). Let the alcohol evaporate, then apply!
