![]() I had this problem on my old '84. It was not the cylinder lock. It was the ignition switch in the steering column. The plastic on the ignition had come a little lose and would slip out of the column socket maybe an 8th of an inch. Enough to lose the contact and kill the engine. Take the covers off your column and give it a look.
