I always remove the SPOUT after the car is started....I also put the clamp at the distributor.
How high are you trying to go???
12* should be fine.
The pointer is the right side, or tip of the indicator (like a shield on top of the balancer)
If you do this and still have a problem...gap your plugs down.about .045"
