![]() Your best bet to save money is to sand it down and fix any blemishes yourself if it is within your abilities.
Like MIKESHAW said, it sounds like the new shop wants to do it right, which requires blending all adjacent panels. When my hood got keyed it was over $1000 to get it fixed due to the blending they had to do. One time I also accidentally Judo threw my friend onto the fender of a Honda and smashed it and had to pay over $1000 for that as well. So basically it looks like $1000 is what it costs these days to get something painted and blended.
