I have just about everything polished in my engine compartment, The best thing you can do is put a coat of wax on everything to keep the water from oxidizing when it dries up. I wipe down the whole engine compartment after every wash. I use mothers pure carnuba wax on my stuff, and it makes it a snap to clean.
