The 2/3 flare is common on a c-4, get a good valve body and be done with it. PA's full manual reverse valve body will do the trick. Is the valve body a manual/automatic or a full manual? It's hard to get away from the flare with a manual/automatic. I've had friends go round and round with different companies and they seem to have the best luck with PA. As far as the tick I haven't a clue.
