Hey Gofast. I know there are some differences in the blocks from say the 70-72 range and up. In 1970 Ford had a factory rated 365 horse 460 just because of the heads, DOVE heads. Which is what I'd say the biggest majority or people running non aftermarket aluminum heads are running. Some also call the DOVE heads Cobra Jet heads. Same head, just different names. I will also say, ( and unfortuneatly I dont have documentation ot back it up) that a man could take an engine like you have as a core, Build a good short strong block use the Fuelk Injected heads ( with welding up injector bungs and an adapter for a carb ) and make some serious power. These heads will outflow ANY aftermarket big block head that is available to the public (i.e. Blue Thunder, Cobra Jet etc. etc, Cast or aluminum) I have been called a liar many time by this statement, But without documentation noone can prove anything, Im still looking for flow numbers to prove it to a few. I am just going by what ive been told by SEVERAL Knowledgeable big block mechanics.

As far as 8:1 compression pistons, I dont know of any off the top of my head that are a shelf item from anyone but a custom set is possible, Call Lunati.. The newer blocks cant be bored as much unfortuneatly, I think .090 or .110 is as much as you should go without worrying about cooling issues and hardblock.

Hope this helps ya in some way.

Bradley
