![]() I had no wheel hop without quad shocks.
Here's my theory-they are to compensate for the stupid oval bushings in the stock 83-present lower control arms. 79-82 cars have proper round bushings on both sides of the lower control arm and slapper bars, but when they switched to the oval bushings in 83, the slapper bars no longer worked to get rid of the wheel hop so they changed to the quad shock design in mid 84. So if you are using a lower control arm with round bushings than you shouldn't need the quads.
