well the headlamp switch, the one of the dash is different from the high beam switch, one or the other is probabaly bad... I'm guessing it's the headlight switch, since you didnt mention anything about the high beams being an issue.. I'm sure you can find the switch off a junk yard car, it'd be cheap enough to find out if that's the problem rather then jury rigging some awful mess.
