What year of 302 are you using? If it is 85 or later, get an 85gt distributor. If it is older, get any year before 85 get an 84 or older distributor. You can use the stock 4 cyl coil. Don't go the points route if you can help it. You will be much better off if you go electronic. And it is very easy to wire up.
I will second that carbs are more fun that efi. I think a carbed motor sounds meaner.
