The 1983-89 with T5 transmission used a 7 tooth drive gear vs the 1990-95 used a 8 tooth drive gear. That's the reason a 21 tooth with 3:73 will work for the 1983-89.

He's correct. I thought you had an '88 T5. Must have been somebody else. I guess that's what I get for not being around as much these days. lol.

I'm not aware of any 24 tooth gears, but if you could find one, that's what you'd really need.
