You really need to check the codes to see what's causing the MIL. A simple code scanner will do the trick or take it to your favorite qualified mechanic to have the codes dumped.
I just bought a killer code scanner, an OTC Nemisys. It cost $1000 but does almost everything including datalogging off the PCM. It'll pay for itself over time at my shop, but you can get the generic code output from a simple $149 Sunpro code scanner available at Sears, Autozone, etc. Some parts stores will even rent you the code scanner for free....you pay the $149, use it to retrieve the codes, then return the unit for a refund of the $149.
