![]() As Jester said....There sure is something wrong here. Oil pumps don't fail like that. Something is causing your concern.
First thing you have to find out is what went wrong????? Did the shaft break?? Did the pump cease up?? Did the pump starve??? You have to find that out before you point the finger at something being defective. How much crud is in the engine?? Is the pan clean?? I have seen a "high voluume pump" suck a 4 quart [stock] oil pan dry when running at full song. As stated above. Check the clearence to the bottom of the pan, too.
