best street engine?

I would suggest the 331 as stated before. I would also suggest deciding what HP you want to strive for, get a good solid head/intake/cam package, as this what makes the beast come to life IMHO

Yep, what he said. You don't have to spend a ton of money to make a daily driver run really well. Just have to spend it in the right place. H/C/I is where it's at. Get out of "race mode" and keep in mind this is a daily driver, don't go overboard and you'll be extremely happy with the end result.
