Okay, Unit 5302's Fox body education class is now in session.
The 1987-1988 non CA car's were equipped with S/D. The speed density systems are tuned a little rich right from the factory, and with minor tweeking (fuel pressure) most accept mild cam's, heads, and intakes without problems. From the factory the SD cars run about 2 tenths quicker in bone stock form. A 5spd 1987-1988 LX Hatch will weigh anywhere from 3050-3100 lbs. Rated at 225hp@4200/300tq@3600. I'd expect a stock SD 5.0 5spd to dyno at around 190whp, which would indicate a couple more ponies than 225 under the hood. More like 230hp. Anyway, I'd expect a bone *** totally stock 1987-1988 non CA 5.0 5spd LX Hatch to run between 13.9-14.4, depending on rear gears, (2.73's vs 3.08's) driver skill (assuming good to awesome) and the racetrack. Make no mistake Lizard, a well driven and tuned SD Fox 5.0 will give your 99GT a run for it's money stock for stock, and the SD car will pick up more hp mod for mod (small stuff vs an MAF car just cause it's tuned too rich). If this 88LX Hatch is driven to it's potential I'd expect it to be in the mid/high 13sec range. I just got a GTech today, (wet out now), I'll run my car and we'll find out what I've got with 145k on the motor. I've beaten LS1 verts, LT-1's soundly, and an Integra Type R running 3rd gear from a 50 punch when I could have used 2nd. When he came back for more, I did use 2nd and he was annihilated. If a non AOD 1988CA-1993 5.0 hardtop ran anything worse than a high 14 I'd be shocked at the driver being skilled. Well, if it wasn't all clapped out and running on 7. Hehe. As for your mighty new 4.6GT, if you were down here, I'd already be on the phone yelling "Bring it on! I'll let you see my old beat up SD Fox's taillights for free!" |
