Your problem will not be so much that it needs to be "street legal" your problem would be keeping it "streetable". It would probably have a hard time idling and would probably overheat. I would recommend getting the chassis and other drivetrain mods done first. ie : Gears, Control arms, Subframe connectors, etc. before concentrating on engine upgrades. Then do a full exhaust (headers, H pipe - X pipe, and Cat-back exhaust kit of choice). Then save up your money and buy some nice heads, intake, injectors, fuel pump, adjustable regulator, throttle body, MAF sensor, cam, and other related components. Dial in your combo and practice. With traction you should be in the mid to low 12's like alot of other cars on this board. Depending on the mileage and condition of the engine, it should be able to handle these mods without any problems. If you want more power and a faster car than low 12's - high 11's, then you'll need either nitrous or a supercharger. Then it is a whole new story. Decide on your goal before you buy any parts and try not to buy a part if you know you will need to replace it in the future.
