![]() try buying a diff. brand of gas first. then maybe a higher octane, then on a 96 they had a octane adj. plug next to the air cleaner box. has two wires to it, pull the plug, it'll retard the timing like 2 deg., you can try to clean the maf also, have to get a special torx bit and take the two screws out of the top of the maf, use brake cleaner and spray off the two sensing wires @reassemble.good luck.
