Well, you could always take it off and try it. If you don't like the results, then put it back on. It only takes a few minutes.
I removed it on my GT and Cobra. If nothing else, it sounds cool at WOT, hearing the air whistling into the intake, heh. Some ppl claim to have dyno'd 1-2 hp higher with it removed.
