![]() Sustained 8500-9000rpms? LOL, hell no! I was making fun of the idea. My engine held together, luckily for me, and it didn't see that kind of rpm for more than a split second as the howling of tire and slipping of clutch allowed me to hit the clutch again a hair after it grabbed.
Mora, you're a total idiot. Weight doesn't affect top speed worth mentioning. It affects acceleration. Using a fox body Mustang for a top speed run? Are you an idiot? (Wait, I've already answered that question, see reference at the beginning of this paragraph.) The Fox Mustang is a brick. It'll take better than 700hp to hit 200mph with it, regardless of weight. Go read a physics book. |

![]() ok im from canada so im confused where we do top speed stuff we got about 300 miles of open road . where in P R would you have the space to hit 180 and slow down on the island ?
im not disbilieving you I just dont know much about where your from except Bacardi comes from there . Ps a power adder will help you get to the increased RPMS with 3/08 i hit 173 mph the car had more but i didnt. ( oh yeah i dont know how accurate the radar gun the guy had set up was ive never been on that side of one.

![]() How much hp are you planning on making? That is a question you need to be asking yourself. Rpm's get a big huge cam somewhere in the 800 lift range, about 310 duration a shot of vodka so you do not feel the pain in your wallet when your motor comes apart.
Seriously if you want that kind of rpm there are a few calls you can make. Bennet racing is one,Kuntz and Co. is another,Keith Craft is a good company. Now to turn the rpm's you are looking for, just the bottom end alone will cost close to 9-10k,that is dollars by the way. To flow the air to make hp at 9000rpm's it is going to take a set of serious race heads like Yates,Brodix,Glidden Victors. Intake just start at a Super Victor and work your way up,sheetmetal or something along that line,oh by the way most serious Super Victor intakes that have been ported cost in the neighborhood of 1200-1600 dollars. The valvetrain, hmmm give Cam Motion or Comp Cams or one of the other cam companies a call.9000rpm's wonder how much would a knife edged crank cost? Heck at least you do not have to pay a fortune for the block Dart makes a block now that cost 2 thousand dollars fully machined. Do you have extra valvesprings and lifters, cam bearings? You will need to replace those regularly. If you have not noticed by now I am being sarcastic,a 9000rpm motor belongs no where near the street, not even on cruise nights,a 9000rpm motor is serious business, you plan on turning 9000rpm's I hope you have 10,000rpm's brakes. It is a lot of more sane ways to make hp,then turning the piss out of your motor, you can make 450 NA with a carb and still drive it on the street and keep the revs below 6500,best thing to do call around and ask, tell the builder what you want, your goals, and how the car will be used and most of them will guide you in the right direction, will they try to pedal a certain component? yes they will, but throw out options to get a reaction from them, you will be able to tell if they pushing the latest wonder component. Good Luck with your goals, but be smart about a high rpm screamer for the street

![]() I once reved my stock 89 to 7k for a brief second. I was going up a steep hill in third gear, I had my hand resting on the shifter and accedently poped it into nuetral while i had the gas floored. No damage but it didn't sound so good.

![]() How fast do you want to go? With 3:73 gears, 26 inch tall tires, you can hit 200 mph @6500 RPM in 5th gear. If you wanted a 9k RPM engine, you would need to spend about $20,000 on the engine. Ever see those NA pro mod engines? theres a Probe [powered by a destroked 351 (302 ci) pushing about 730 horses at 9,300 RPM. It costs $75,000 to biuld an engine like that. And he has to check the valve springs in between each run, and replaces the crank/rod/cam bearings every 50 runs. Now, do you really think its worth the money to buy a 9k+ rpm engine for the street?
Check out bennett racing, they make a short block that will take 8k rpm and 2500 horses for $10,950. Then add in the cost of cylinder heads that will make power at that RPM level (at least 400 cfm intake) thats another $8,500. Then all the other components. Do the math.

![]() If top speed racing is what you are interested in, check out the cars competing in the Open Road Race Challenges. The unlimited class average 190+ on closed down sections of highway in Nevada/Arizona. Don't reinvent the wheel, check out what they are using, and i doubt they rev past 6500

![]() Forget all this, just talk to radical GT. He traps something ungodly like 150+ in the 1/8th. Steal his motor, change the gears, and you should be fine. Seriously though, the motor is Pro built with a two stage shot. And its big. Do the cops not care because you all just fall into the ocean at the end of the race??
