Default Will it hurt the engine to run with the IAC unhooked for a few days?

I replaced the IAC over the weekend and my high idle is worse than before, except that every once in a while it will drop to normal levels. I unhook it and the idle is fine. I need to figure this out, but I won't have time to look at the EGR, TPS, codes until the weekend (unless someone has a quick, seat-o-the-pants answer) and I need to drive the car. I can't imagine it would do damage, but wanted to make sure. Thanx.
