![]() Eric+1bad89,
you guys are right that I definetly would pick up some power with an aftermarket intake: ie. TFS track head, Edelbrock rpm performer etc. however I was planning on keeping the cobra, mainly because of the look of the stock motor, and because I have heard that porting the lower intake would help quite a bit if matched to the heads. I have not cancelled out purchasing another intake, but probably will stick with the ported cobra. ( wanna keep something at least looking origninal in the engine bay ![]() Yes jim larocca tuned the car. I think it would have made more power if he would have let it cool down. The car was at 180-185 degrees on each run, so it probably had a little more once cooled down. Another thing that is causing it to be rich is the timing, its at 22 degrees advance, or 8 degree base. I told jimmy that I thought I had a small head gasket leak, which it is leaking a small amount under boost, so thats another reason for the conservative tune. The D1sc, well mainly because I am planning a 306 sportman block with forged internals and running 15psi, probably in the next year. And this is another reason I want the heads and intake fully ported. I am also going w/ a custom blower cam...again this stuff is down the road, a year from now probably. Also the d1sc as claimed by jim L. will produce more power down low, mid and high at the same boost level as the p1sc, mainly because it takes much less to push the lower levels of boost. The d1 also has double bearings which makes it stronger. I can tell you now that by going with a d1sc you will see PLENTY of low end boost, as I can see 5lbs of boost when cruising at 3000rpms in 3rd gear by just giving it half throttle. When you floor it boost starts coming in around 2500rpms, about 2psi of it, and you can also see about 2lbs of boost in 5th gear by flooring it on the highway at lower rpms. I've had a few vortech guys ride in the car before and they were shocked how low this d1 makes boost. You won't need any lower boost with a blower, cause all you'll do is burn the tires off anyways. When my car is cold and running well, 1/2 throttle in 3rd blows off the tires. Id go w/ the d1 series, as even lower boost numbers with this blower feel strong. btw, the d1sc also comes with smog pump hook up for emissions legality. ok im done ranting. good luck w/ the blower choice.
