A buddy of mine sank his 4X4 Ranger in the river last year and bought a rebuilt motor from Checkers. Ford wanted an ungodly amount of money to install it so he brought it to me and I put it in for him, but I was moving so I just had time to put the long block in it and he had ford finish the job. After all was said and done, he fired it up and had almost no compression and when he went to talk to Checkers they pointed out to him that in the little contract he signed for the motor, it stated that he could only receive $500 back for his time and troubles. So basically he was just SOL and lost about $1000 total after he got the other motor and it runs fine. So IMO, it's a game of luck when you buy a motor from a discount parts place. Just my $0.02.
