Definelty get a set of copper plugs, autolite or ngk. Which valve covers do you have?

A 1" spacer will increase the length of your intake runners which will promote more low end torque but will lower the rpm at which peak hp is achieved.

Since you don't have a cam your hp will peak somewhat low anyway, so it may work well. But if you ever add a cam you might want to consider a smaller spacer.

You might want to consider switching to mass air. Speed density cars are very picky when it comes to increasing air flow, you may have some surging problems even without the cam, definelty with the cam. A custom chip may be needed to fix driveablity problems. You may also not see the increase in power you expect, due to the computer not compensating for the extra airflow like a mass airflow setup.
