Sounds like the carb is screwed up. Where is the float level??

Anyway, try another carb and see what happens. I like the AFB's. Of course I'm showing my age too. When I was mucho younger, ie 1960's, no one ran a Holley. Everyone ran AFB's. They are easy to tune and adjust. Plus, the power valve can't get blown out.
