A rebuilt C4 with a good shift kit, trans cooler and a looser coverter will do you fine. You can get a C4 like this from most of the mail order houses for about 700.00. For 1800.00 you get a full manual reverse valve body, trans brake, better drum, etc... That trans is good for around 800 h.p.
