I recommend either a Holley 4150 with vacuum secondaries 600 cfm or a Road Demon. I've had both. The Holley had a better electric choke than the Demon. Both produced about all that could be expected from my street friendly engine.

I've not had an Edelbrock which I believe is similar to a Carter AFB. Not sure, but I've heard they're not in the same class performance-wise.
