I would pony up for the AMD chip. Pentiums, in my opinion, are over-rated and over-priced. AMD makes chips that perform as well or better than their competitors in just about every category out there. I run an AMD Athelon Thunderbird 1.2Ghz. Make sure you've got plenty of cooling power in there...lots of fans and a good cooling tower.
A buddy just finished his computer with AMD's new Athelon XP processor. It really kicks serious butt. Runs cooler than my Thunderbird as well. I believe that's the processor Dan just put in the new server. --nathan
