Default thanks for the replies

best reply yet may be to replace the motor, even though i was told it was replaced already and that didn't fix the problem. i do think it's the park switch.

I appreciate any attempt to answer, but some probably shouldn't give advice...

nothing personal, but if the wipers stop in the up position and the first motion they make when turned on is to swivel down, then what do you think will happen if you remove the arm and reattach it at the down position? hmmm-how about rake across the hood of the car, or at least as far as the cowl... thanks again, but i'm glad i had enough sense not to try this one...

and the bracket might be the case only if it stops at either the fully extended or opposite position, because then when the motor starts no matter which way it turns the wipers will go the same way, for instance if the bracket stops all the way extended at it's furthest point when the motor turns on clockwise it will start to pull inward pulling the wipers down and if it turns counter clockwise it will still pull the bracket inward, whereas if the bracket stopped at a halfway extension point(with the bracket vertical) and the motor turned clockwise when it was started the bracket would push the wipers up and if it turned counter clockwise when started it would pull them down.

so i have to look at the stop point of the bracket, but just thinking about the last explaination leads me to believe that that isn't the problem because anyone with the backwards wiper problem in the past was probably caused by a switch failure and not some knob reattaching the bracket the wrong way, but i'll let you know what happens.....and thanks again
