Buy a 7/16" tap from Pep Boys and run it through those old threads in the block. Clean threads help you get an even torquing.
New ARP head bolts with washers - the original bolts sometimes stretch. You actually need thread sealant for the 10 outboard head bolts. If you don't, you'll leak coolant from the bolt holes. Use a THICK bead of RTV instead of the cork end seals that come in the intake gasket kit. That's all I can think of for now...
