If you have a bunch of keys and your keys weigh a good amount, they can cause your ignition switch to disengage killing the car. Did you ever have problems when the car would seem to die when you were driving? Kind of like a stumble and then it would restart if you have a 5 speed. It may happen so fast that you don't even notice it.
