Shakey from the start?¿

I have noticed lately that when i start from a complete stop in first gear, my car kinda shakes under me front the front all the way towards the trans. But after i get going it is fine.Could it be a loose drive shaft or what?
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Yes it could but I doubt it, it could be a bad clutch, a out of round tire, bad belt in the tire, etc.

If it would be a bad tire i would feel it all the time right? But this only happens every now and then, i wouldn't think the clutch because it shifts just fine, grabs real good, its almost as if something is loose vibrating for the first sec or so..

Is it a vibration or an engine surge? Does it smooth out faster (vibrate less) if you ride the clutch more?

It vibrates right when the clutch grabs only in first gear from a dead stop. Its not an engine surge though.Its a vibration like the motors shakes or the transmission, i havn't pinpointed it yet

My vote is the clutch. When my car was new it shuddered like crazy off of 1st gear. I had Ford replace the clutch and the flywheel twice before it went away.

Definitely sounds like the clutch. Depending on the year of your car it could have a self adjusting clutch. Try pulling up on the clutch pedal. If you feel it click or ratchet up it is adjusting.

The stock bearing retainer is weak also, While you are working on the clutch assy, do yourself a big favor and upgrade to a steel bearing retainer.

I'm going to be different and say I think its the rear main seal leaking oil on your flywheel, and causing your clutch to slip/grab/slip/grab a bit when you engage..

Reason, it happened to me..

i had a problem like this once. car would shake once in a while when i would take off but then be fine when i got going. then it did it so bad i had to take off in 2nd gear, looked under the car and came to notice that the bolts were loose,(trans to block). tightened them up and problem all gone.

Ok i have looked under my car and noticed some trans fluid leaking, not much at all but enough to notice gathered on the trans..I will try and see if anything is loose and let yall know..Hopefully that will be it because the clutch is onlu about year old.
