1/2" will fit under the stock hood.

It will allow your upper intake to cool more easily, especially if you ice it at the track. So yes it would be a good thing to have even on a stocker.

But if I were you, I would wait till you get an aftermarket intake and get a spacer for that, unless you wanna spend $50 now and another $50 if you get an intake down the road
