The 97+ explorer GT-40P heads have 4 vertical bars, the cobra GT-40's have 3 so he has the 93-95 cobras and 96 explorer or the marine heads. mine are the cobra spec and have 3 vertical bars.
Can't explain the lack of smog bumps unless they've been removed by the previous owners unless the marine ones don't have them. I'd check the casting #'s on mine but I don't really feel like pulling off a valve cover.
