GO BACK! Your gears definitley shouldnt make noise. They will build up too much heat and explode. They whine for a while, then it sounds like a helicopter is about to land on you car kinda like a huge WHOOMP WHOOMP sorta sound then BOOM! your whole rearend is scattered all over the freeway. Make sure its not your driveshaft making the noise though. My DS started to whine after my gear change but only because the U joints were toast. Defintitely have them checked out.
