Things like cold air intakes, exaust components,new heads, minor bolt on things like that most likely wont affect the life of your engine. If anything it should improve the life.

I like an escalator because an escalator can never break. It can only become stairs. There'd never be an escalator out of order sign, only escalator temporarily stairs-sorry for the inconvenience sign.
