302. did the overheating problem happen after you put the new pump in? if it did, make sure you didnt get the wrong water pump from the parts store. v-belt water pumps run clockwise as for the mustangs, i think they run counter-clockwise, meaning it isnt pumping. it is not that common to happen, but it does. that is the only thing i can thing of.
