![]() I would highly recommend NOT buying something you can't afford. Just think of it this way, if you get a loan, you usually have to have full coverage insurance (think of someone your age getting that), can you pay for the car, the insurance, repairs, let alone modifications (which you WILL want to do.....the need for speed is infecting). I bought my '89 GT for $1500 because the owner didn't want to fix an oil leak from the pan (he said it was the rear main, which it wasn't). and the car was already modified quite a bit, mostly with stuff i'd want anyways. You can almost always find someone who is willing to sell their car for dirt cheap or cheaper than comparable cars, you just have to talk to alot of people and bide your time (as hard as that is). You can probably find someone desperate enough to sell a 5.0L that's in great condition for as low as $2500 if you have the cash readily available and can take the car that day. Some people will take convenience rather than pinching every penny. Debt is a trap you don't really want to fall into especially at a young age....now if someone like a parent wanted to help you or you could post a good down payment, it's not AS bad, but it can still be a money trap. I personally don't like making payments on ANYTHING.
Good luck, i hope you find something you like.
