![]() I would probably stay away from getting the tubes from a hardware store as they are bound to have really low grade steel. I have a friend that works at a racecar fabrication shop that makes parts for me, so I've never acquired the materials myself. I would try asking any racecar buddies you may have or even calling a racecar shop in your area and asking.
