Yes i have the same style timing pointer as you with the big "O" on the passanger side of the pointer, that's normal. My car also dies near 4500 rpm, that's because of several things like, small stock worn out cam, tiny port heads/intake manifold, worn valve springs, and when my car was stock it had log type exhaust manifolds. Yours probably has the small, crimped headers...but you have the same pre-87 heads as me. I believe your car is a roller cam engined car though. From what i know about '86 fuel injected mustangs vs. '87+ fuel injected stangs is that the '86 stangs had a smaller throttle body, crappy heads with smaller ports than the E7TE heads of later models and i also believe your car has the dual-single-dual exhaust (i might be wrong) which also kills power. Is your car carbureted or fuel injected? I know '85 cars had both... but yeah it is very normal for your car not to want to rev high in stock form because it's designed for emissions and lowend torque rather than high end power.
