Just buy a stroker kit and ask the place you buy it what needs to be done. You can get 331 strokers that dont require any block clearance at all (piston skirts) and just use a .030 over piston. Other kits require you to clear the block.

My freind is building one right now, and he said if he had to do it over again, he would just buy a built short block already. Its easier and cheaper.
