As far as safety goes it depends on the type and severity of the collision. You’re strengthening the passenger / patient compartment, but you’re also increasing the forces transferred to the people inside. Like I said, it depends.

They do make a significant difference in handling. I’ve dealt with MM before and highly recommend them.
