I disagree strongly with his point about "speed shifting." Speed shifting is not just shifting fast. It's shifting without depressing the clutch pedal at all.

Ken B, if you've got 500mi on it, it's time for the first oil change. You want to get the break in metal out, along with the assembly lube and all that extra garbage. Once you have your first oil change, feel free to get on it a little. As long as you're not beating the car for a bit longer, there won't be any harm done. In other words, 5000rpm is fine. So is 5500rpm, and so is 5800rpm (redline). Just don't stay on it for more than a couple gears that way till you get a few more on it.
