A spool ties the axles together so they turn at the same speed. An Auburn or Detroit Locker allow each wheel to turn at it's own speed when turning. With a spool it sorta drags the outside tire along when turning and you will wear the tires out real fast. Spools are really meant for drag racing applications.

You could run N2O with an open (non posi) rear end, but you will have absolutely zero traction.
